Has anyone here gone to Columbia Southern University? I know they are only NA but the school seems very popular. I am interested in their Envromental Management degree. Any input would be great.

Some threads have been brought up here before on CSU, with mixed results.

    From DegreeInfo

On the reputation of the school: http://degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?t=28374&highlight=Columbia+Southern+University

    On the rigor: http://degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?t=17591&highlight=Columbia+Southern+University

    From other sites:

Students Review gives them a B-.

For reviews of the Environmental Management program: http://www.onlinedegreereviews.org/college/columbia-southern-university-reviews/environmental-management-1454/ Only one is negative, but it is extremely negative.

I attended CSU and enjoyed the curriculum. in some groups, primarily military and law enforcement/fire dept it does have a great reputation.

from what I remember in student forums the environmental management and OS&H curriculum was current, relevant and rigorous.

CSU has grown much in recent years.

For the most part assignments included short responses to situational questions related to text readings, short essays, quizzes and for some classes a 50 question proctored final exam. Towards the end of my degree they started adding discussion board postings and increased the use of anti-plagarism software. As I understand graduate level courses added more research and longer essays.

I enjoyed my time at CSU as they were very military friendly (in terms of transfer credits and time flexibility during deployments).

Just be sure that any certification, if needed, will accept a degree from a DETC school. For example: The Board of Certified Safety Professionals will recognize CSU degrees for the application process under the both the Associate Safety Professional designation and the Certified Safety Professional designation. But, Certified Government Financial Manager examinations require that degree must be from a U.S. college or university, accredited by one of the regional accrediting agencies that accredit colleges and universities or higher education institutions.

I think I will find an RA school. The doubts I have about CSU is telling me to move on. I might have to change my degree choice but life goes on.
I am checking out Bellevue and Walden for now. Thanks for the help.

Would a Liberal Studies degree, in a concentration of your choice, work for you? Charter Oak State College let's you design tour own concentration, even if they don't already offer one in your area. Many other schools do something similar.

Well, I found my school! Dickinson State University has a few online degrees.
I am going for Business Admin with a minor in Equine Management. They are RA and have answered all questions very fast. Wish me luck.
