Finally, A Question I Can Answer!!!

Sorry to say: I have not heard nor seen a good course for Sign Language ANYWHERE . Most sign language teachers I have ever seen really, really, really don't get it! The Deaf, in general, are the absolute best teachers you can find. Make a Deaf friend! I learned by allowing myself to become absorbed into the community. In fact, over the past 7 years, I have used American Sign Language significantly more than I have used English as a means of communication. I can honestly say I feel more comfortable expressing myself in ASL, even though English is technically my first language.

Enough with my life story :p. Here are the best resources I know of to help you along the way (best part, they are all FREE):

    ASL Dictionary: http://aslbrowser.commtechlab.msu.edu/browser.htm

    Free ASL Courses: http://www.lifeprint.com/

    Free Lessons: http://www.signingonline.com/

    Assorted Information: http://www.handspeak.com/

National Association of the Deaf: http://nad.org

For free videos to improve your general receptive skills:

    http://deafnewspaper.com

    http://youtube.com (yep, YouTube, no kidding)

These resources are better than anything you could ever pay for.

    Best Wishes!

Wow, that's fascinating. You just started hanging out with deaf people and picked up ASL? I always wanted to learn but never got around to it...like so many other things.

The only sign language I know is the sign that is frequently exchanged between motorists here in California :)
