I'm thinking about applying for the next available semester which is September 2010, Since September is so far away from now i was thinking about starting to obtain lots of credits through CLEP before September comes, But I'm confused because it seems like the college requires you to take the SUNY General Education classes and i do not know if the CLEP exams i want to take will end up counting for anything?

I'm interested in a Management Information Systems degree can anyone help me out and point me in the right direction? What type of CLEP exams should i take? Also does Empire State College accept Femas on a Fredrick CC Transcript as electives?

I'm going there right now...and I like it. Let me try to answer your questions, but I'm sure you won't like the answers.

Because of the "design your own degree" way that Empire does things, you have to design a degree that meets all of the criteria and then "submit" it, with your justification, to a committee. You actually don't know what prior credits or ANYTHING will apply until they approve/deny/request changes from you...

That being said - you CAN figure out in advance what will be covered by checking against the course inventory and seeing if a similar course covers the requirments. Chances are pretty solid if a course that is the same as the exam material covers a requirement, then the test (CLEP, DSST, TE, ECE, etc) will as well.

Here is the link to search the inventory of courses. Choose the "show more search options" and you'll see they allow you to search based on gen-ed categories (or classes that meet each one).
