ok, first of, I plan to transfer my existing credits worth of around 2 years of university into this new program i will study. Seems like, from what I read, the big 3 schools will tend to offer more credits that are eligible for transfer. yes/no?

I do not plan on 'testing out' my degree as to be honest, im not really sure or looked deep into how it works.

With my motive of not planning to TEST OUT, is TESC or Excelsior still the best way to go, instead of a larger state school like colorado, penn state, or even APU etc.

    thanks all .

At this point you really need to go to the university websites and see what their general education requirements are to compare them with Excelsior. Here are some considerations:

-If you plan to take classes then a traditional program might be better unless...Your Toronto coursework does not transfer well to the traditional school.

-Testing out is not too confusing if you go to the Excelsior website and download the booklet about credit by examination. It lists all the tests and the credits they are worth at Excelsior.

-Excelsior and TESC are more likely to understand how to apply your existing credits than traditional American universities.

-Finally, you should NOT decide anything before reading the college catalogs in depth.

    Good luck!

Probably they just keep statistics for marketing purposes. There's nothing suspicious.

Using testing or a portfolio can save you a lot of time and/or money - so do not dismiss it so readily.

    CLEP http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/exams.html
CLEP test centers in Canada http://apps.collegeboard.com/cbsearch_clep/searchCLEPTestCenterResults.jsp?searchCategory_country=Canada&DBACTION=SEARCH_TC&clepSearchType=International&x=37&y=8

    DSST http://www.getcollegecredit.com/

Not knowing your situation in more detail it is hard to suggest the best school for you. However Penn State and Colorado State would be more prestigious than one of the big three or AMU.

Are you serious?! LOL! If you haven't noticed, this site gets tons more visitors than it has registered users. Also, it pops up fairly regularly on google searches. (I have been befuddled a couple times when I have posted here, and did a google search on the same topic, and my own thread was the #1 result )

I am a fan (and student) of Excelsior, but I only see them as worth it if you have more transfer credits than others will accept or if you need to do some testing to complete your degree. If you have over a year of credits left to obtain and aren't going to do much testing, I see the City University of New York's online bachelor's as a terrific option. If you are looking for the lowest tuition available, you can take some classes at Clovis Community College and maybe check out Western New Mexico's university Bachelor's options (I recommend you research them- I don't know what degrees they have, but their tuition is the lowest I have found for a university).

If I wasn't going to save money by taking a bunch of tests, I would chose SUNY, but, of course, your goals and major are different than mine.

In my research I find that Excelsior is the most flexible when selecting courses to meet their requirements + plus the fact Excelsior allow professional course credits as electives.

the schools haven't gotten back to me about transfer credits as of yet. but i just want to be prepared to make the decision, when they do reply me, within the week hopefully.

i think, obviously, if the big3 are going to give me a lot more credits, i will have to go with them, and maybe look into testing to reduce time/fees. Testing will still help, say for example if i get 60 credits transfered?

    BUT

if Excelsior and TESC comes back to me with the same amount of credits as a state school, I just dont know what to decide on. When should i make the jump away from the big 3 to a state college?

Yes, I do want a university with a more well known name, but I am not willing to dish out a ton more $$$ for the name. BUT MY MAIN FACTOR RIGHT NOW IS TIME. within 2 years is my target, assuming I get 60 credits transferred.

And if you all say testing should help me out to finish quicker, I should stick with the big 3 correct as other colleges dont accept it?

    -----

    to Ian:

1.My situation is basically, I want to attain my Bachelors degree in two years. 2.Financially, I should be 'ok', I believe my budget should fulfill most schools fees, but this does not mean I want to pay more for no reason.
3.I want to graduate from an as well known college as possible, a degree that will be credited outside of USA.

What kind of other information do you need about my situation? I am looking for your help and all the help I can get here.

Don't forget the LSU distance learning for fairly inexpensive courses, and you can take them at your own pace. Some are traditional correspondence courses, some are online. I think they tend to cost around $262 or so. My wife took a Western Civ class a few years ago and liked it. Not a bad choice if one is looking for a quick class or two (or more), and doesn't want to test out of the subject.

A quick google search will provide the link.

University of Wyoming offers bachelor's classes online at in-state rates, which run about $100 per credit. Better yet, the business school is AACSB approved.

this is so difficult to choose a school.

can anyone recommend or have a list of schools for a bachelor in business apart from the big 3 schools. I applied to TESC, but am not sure about their situation, so i need to explore more options now. I have applied to excelsior college as well, just wondering if there are more options available for me

thanks for the help, if anyone has recommendations or a list of schools i can look into for a bachelor of business.

Also, BYU (Div. of Continuing Studies) might be an option for you.

Yes, choosing a school is very confusing. You will have to find out about transfer credits on you own, most likely. I went through the same process last year. The bad news is the fact that no one can tell you what the best school for you is. That's mostly because there are a lot of good ones out there. It's a decision you alone will have to make. To the best of my knowledge, TESC is good, Excelsior is good and there are many others.

This board is a tremendous resource for identifying schools you should avoid. Post a school you are considering here and the members will give you the lowdown. They steered me away from one school that would have been a mistake.

    That's my input, FWIW.

are the fees for excelsior international and domestic students the same? i believe so?

I believe that Excelsior makes no distinction between international and domestic students. I looked at the website briefly and could find no evidence of a two tiered tuition rate.

I second this assertion. As far as I am aware, international students only have to get their acquired credits evaluated by an approved agency (if applicable to your situation). Other than that, I haven't seen anything that hints at a difference between in-state out-of-state nor international students. Of course, if you plan to apply, it is important that you call them first.

If you want more info on Excelsior, you can ask me. I am not an expert on their policies, but I am enrolled with them and can ask my academic adviser for you.

If you want to take a few online classes, I cannot recommend the State University of New York, Empire State College more. They have a great amount of options and are not too expensive. I have heard from some students who love the program and the name recognition is very good- probably the best balance between price and recognition that you will find anywhere.

If $$$ or time is really most important, most likely Charter Oak or Excelsior are for you.

If you need a balance between all factors, SUNY is most likely for you.

Of course, there are many more schools that can fit for you, but these are the ones I know of.

Since you are having trouble findind a suitable bachelor in business degree program why not first just earn an Associate degre from either Excelsior or TESC and while you are doing that keep an eye on degreeinfo. In the year it will take you to earn the AA you will hear of lots of schools, one of which may suit all your needs. The AA degree will transfer into a BS program at all RA schools providing you take appropriate courses.

There are a few other nice BSBA degree programs around but I would have to sift though degreeinfo to find them
