I have found other online colleges that offer doctorate degrees, but they have required certain residency visits to their college. I only have seen Northcentral as being a no residency college, so far. Have anyone came across any others?

TUI University is another one without residency requirement.
There are also bunch of DETC doctorates that do not require residency.

TUI University in the U.S., and a host of Australian and British schools, plus a couple of South African ones.

It looks like Jones International's DBA is technically non-residential. It's doctoral colloquia are web-based.

If one is willing to take a degree from a DETC-accredited school, there are several options along those lines, too.

There are also many schools with very short residency periods, including Union, Walden, Capella, Nova Southeastern, Fielding, Bellevue, and a host of others.

Please search the years and years of threads available here on this subject.

Some of these schools have region centers located around the country where the residency actually takes place. Depending on where you live, you may not have to travel far, or at all, in order to attend the residency period.

If you attend a Regional center for your residency, does this mean your doctorate was earned via B&M or would it qualify as being earned online?

The Doctor of Health Education program at A.T. Still University is entirely online.

I believe the DSc in Information Systems from Dakota State University is as well.

Many of the Australian and South African universities have this policy, even if not clearly spelled out in the literature. Some say, for instance, that the student may be required to come to campus for meetings or exams but in practice it is rarely done. I've heard from quite a few readers who completed, or are completing doctorates that are well-accepted in the US from these schools.

The DSU program is entirely online.

    "Graduation Requirements
To be certified for graduation, you will have to complete the following degree requirements:

    Degree requirements
Successful completion of all courses listed on your MSIA, MSIS, MBA, MSHI, MSET, or D.Sc. Plan of Study within the 5-year time limit for Master's and 7-years for Doctorate students.
Achievement of a GPA of at least 3.0 (a "B" average), with no more than 6 credit hours of a "C" grade and no grade below a "C" in the courses on your Plan of Study.
Satisfaction of Regental standards for residency. This is satisfied by completing all but a maximum of nine credit hours of your coursework at DSU (distance courses count as "at DSU").
Successful completion of final assessment which could include portfolios, comprehensive exams, etc. Please see special program for more information on this. "

All courses in the program are available online. Therefore there is no residency.

If the institution is an online-only school, your degree will be from an online school regardless of how many residencies you attend (or attended). B & M degrees can only be earned from schools with a physical campus, and no amount of residencies will change an online school or an online degree to suddenly become otherwise (B & M). The best route is to attend DL programs from traditional B & M schools to avoid the "internet degree" stigma, which still exists, sadly. If your interest is in the IT area, Dakota State University is a very attractive school that will guarantee maximum utility and ROI for your educational investment, and it is super affordable also.

Are you attending two Ed.D programs? Your signature line says you attend Northcentral University. You just said you are attending Capella.

Just an observation: It looks like Capella residencies have increased from three three-day residency to three four-day residency. A good program costs driver......

Personal opinion is that there is an unfounded estimate of the level of "stigma" associated with "DL programs." DL is here to stay and so many reputable schools have jumped on the band wagon years ago. To keep stating there is a "stigma" is pointless. Although I will agree with you that there is an order I would select a US school with all other factors being equal.
    1. RA accredited B&M school with DL program some residency
    2. RA accredited B&M school with DL program no residency.
    3. RA accredited school 100% online.
    4. DETC school....perhaps,depending on the utility of the program.
    5. Finally, US school must be listed in CHEA database.

Of course tuition, utility, convenience with work schedule are a few of my considerations because I work full time supporting a family. I'm sure future employers take that into consideration more than this perceived "stigma".

In any case, I would avoid unaccredited schools like the plague because for the most part it will only damage your reputation rather than enhance it.

Any residency at all can be a financial burden. There is the cost of transportation, the cost of lodging and the the cost of food.

Another concern is the need for time away from work.

At 1 time I was attracted to Capella but the residencies seem to be very expensive and time consuming.

Since the primary purpose of doctoral residencies (at regionally-accredited or equivalent schools) seems to be to raise your awareness level within the faculty, those votes that you recruit at residencies and visits to the school could be essential when degrees are "raffled off" at the end of the program. (You'll need these votes if you get blocked by some narcissist or dummy.) Earning a doctorate at one of these schools is very political and has almost nothing to do with the quality of your scholarship; hence, I recommend that you visit the school, attend conferences with the professors, or attend doctoral residencies.
