I thought this group would appreciate this article: http://www.gazette.net/stories/02262010/businew174018_32549.php

The slow adoption of DL has allowed the University of Maryland Pharmacy School (in the Baltimore area) to create a satellite pharmacy program in the DC area (about 50 miles, 1.5 hours away). From the article, about 25% of students are now based at this satellite campus.

It sounds like labs, exams, etc occur completely on the satellite campus, but they're also using video lectures and online discussions to cut the 5-day on campus program into a 3-day on campus program. This makes a day job, while earning a rigorous degree, realistic.

I don't think a pharmacist is someone you would associate with a DL degree, with the labs, internships, and rounds required. I wonder if other "trade" doctorates could also adopt this approach. What do you think?

"Pseudo" is a misnomer. "Hybrid" or "blended" are more accurate ways of describing the programs mode of delivery.

Creighton University (Omaha, NE) offers an entry level Doctor of Pharmacy via distance learning (there are some on campus lab sessions, which last 1-2 weeks).

The University of Cincinnati www.uc.edu, Ohio Northern University www-new.onu.edu, and Ohio State University www.osu.edu all offer the non-traditional PharmD degree.
