.....last time I checked Excelsior College did not require a proctor for any of its math classes.

I think the course they have listed as Pre-calculus Algebra is equivalent to College Algebra.

Have you looked into ALEKS for College Algebra?

With Straighterline you can get credit awarded through one of their partner colleges. It might then be possible for you to transfer these credits to your college.

Aleks is limited to ACE credits.

I haven't completed ALEKS, but I know at least a couple who have for college credit. I have used ALEKS when I teach Business Stats.

Cowboy, are you attending GCCC right now? If you are, is your disability properly documented? If your disability is properly documented, under the ADA, GCCC must make reasonable accommodation for your disability. I believe this may be your best route for College Algebra.

yes gccc know about my disability and deafness.. i had note taker and interpreter and tutors but the problem is i do have not enough to memorize the forumla and notes before i take test. i did asked teacher about forumla note and he said no sorry and he follow his policy from his boss at the math department. i did took course third time attempt and i cant take course again due to the florida law about 3 time attempt because i have to find college for college algebra. so i have been looking for college for two weeks and i really need help with this forums because i couldn't locate any threads say college will accept ACE credit to be permit college credit on transcript.

I am not an expert on this, but based on what you are posting here, I believe you have a legitimate complaint which you need to address with GCCC.

The math teacher can not state that "policy" outweighs the ADA.

Well I think it's quite standard that we cannot use open books and notes on a math test. I think what some are trying to say is, you should be able to take a class as many times as you like, due to circumstances of math disability. I think the user is trying to say that you should speak formally with an administrator about being able to take a math class again. However, I believe the "3 times limit" is standard at other schools as well, not only your school. Sorry, I don't have more information to offer. Actually I myself am also in the process of having to take both college level math as well as statistics, like you. I already dropped stats once, will try a second time.
