I realize this a rather old post but thought I would bump it up to see if anyone had even started the program (or was thinking of doing so) at FAU.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

I was just reading about this program today (the online Masters in Taxation program). It sounds really great but I would like to hear what others have to say about it. Also, I didn't see any fees listed on the Finance page so I am going to write to the school to find out about that.

In response to my inquiry regarding FAU's online Master of Taxation program, I received an email from the director reiterating what I had just read at the website. He still didn't reveal the cost of the program. I was seriously considering the program but now I am beginning to wonder what's up. Has anyone had any experience with FAU or its Master of Taxation program?

In answering a post on another board, I contacted FAU about this program. My reply posted there is repeated below:

The cost isn't on the website. I called them and had a splendid conversation with one of their representatives. The cost will be right at $25,000 for the entire program. That will be approximately $2,500 per course. The good news is the tuition includes all books and materials necessary to complete the program. As you can imagine, most programs are considerably more expensive than just their advertised tuition rates. This one is inclusive. Also, for those taking the program using an employer's tuition reimbursement program that does not allow for books and other expenses, this is a way to get those covered.

The program is available entirely online, and students will be able to complete it in two years. (It hasn't begun yet.) Weekly lectures will be available online via streaming video. According to their website, the program gives 27 s.h. in accounting, sufficient to qualify students to sit for most states' CPA exam. A business or accounting degree is not necessary to enter the program.

FAU is accredited by SACS; the business schools is AACSB-accredited.

Thanks for the information, Rich. But $2500 per course??? Man, that's a LOT of dough (even more expensive than Bentley at around $2300). GGU, for purposes of comparison, is right around $1750 per course.

It's great, of course, that the books and materials are included but the tax courses I've taken (or have considered taking) use the Code, Regs and (maybe) one text. As for the Code and Regs, obviously, they can be used for more than one class so the cost for books, while not nominal, certainly doesn't justify a huge premium (at least not to the tune of $2500).
