My wife has a two year degree in Business. She is contemplating going back to school part-time to get a four-year business degree online. Has anyone any experience with SUNY Empire State College?

    Is it a legitimate school?

Any experiences with school? pro? Con?

Thanks and happy and healthy new year!

Empire State is regionally accredited, and part of the State University of New York system. It's as legitimate as you can get. If I recall correctly, there are more flexible programs available, depending on what you're looking for.

Sometimes-regular David Yamada has an M.A. from Empire State, perhaps he'll chime in with his experiences and impressions.

Empire State College is legitimate and RA. I have taken several courses this summer and fall. I have already registered for four more in the spring. Good Luck

I was very pleased with my experience in the Empire State M.A. program in Labor & Policy Studies. The mentors were accessible, helpful, and knowledgeable teachers who happened to be quite respectable scholars in their fields. I especially enjoyed the interaction with faculty and fellow students at periodic residencies. As for downsides, the time spent completing work on your own certainly had that lone wolf feel to it (a fact of life in many DL programs). I could've used more interaction with faculty & fellow students to keep me going, but those who prefer to work independently & with less supervision will not have a problem with it.

ESC is a fully accredited SUNY school. I've taken one course through ESC and was very pleased.
