I'm looking for a Master or Graduate Certificate in Research Method(ology).
It should ideally cover both areas (qualitative and quantitative) and be oriented towards the social sciences/business area.
Since I'm living in Europe, the focus is on UK degrees esp. for the price/name recognition aspect.

This is so far what I came up with:

    Univ. Of Strathclyde: http://www.mresearch.org
MRes: 12 months PgDip: 9 months PgCert: 4 months
    Fee:?
    Times Ranking 2010: 37
    AACSB

    Nottingham Trent: http://www.ntu.ac.uk/apps/pss/courses/cf/60609-2/10/MSc_Research_Methods_(with_pathways_in_Politics_Social_Policy_Sociology.aspx
MSc Research Methods: PgCert: 15 weeks, PgDip: 15 weeks
    Fee: £4,350 (Msc)
    Times Ranking 2010: 57

    Open University: http://www.open.ac.uk/oubs/programmes/specialist-mscs/msc-in-business-management/index.php
MSc in Management and Business Research Methods
    Fee:?
    Times Tanking 2010: /
(I don't like the OU brand so this is a no)

Unfortunately this is all I could come up with (there are some other with a Psychology or Human Resources perspective which is limiting its application to much for my taste).
    Anyone got any further suggestions?

MRes programs (or programmes, if you insist)

There appears to be many MRes programs in Britain in many different subject areas.

So, instead of me listing each one, put this in your GOOGLE search line and browse for yourself:

    online OR distance "mres" site:ac.uk

    Best wishes---Jim

Thanks Jim for being that helpful!
But I'm looking specific for a mater IN research methods instead of a master BY research ;)
(The first is usually taught, dealing almost exclusively with methods and their application, the second has maybe 1-2 research modules but is mainly oriented towards a thesis.)

I think that there's one or two offered by some of the Australian schools. I can't look it up right now. Maybe later.

    Would a DPhil do?

Stellenbosch University in South AFrica has an MPhil in Social Science Methods (NOT by distance) and a DPhil in Social Science Methods by distance research.

This is currently my favorite program and one i plan to apply to in 2 years.

Does anybody remember the name of the Aussie uni that offers the distance MPhil & DPhil in Computer Uses for the Humanities and Social Sciences?
