If I get all my credit passed through FCC for their ungodly prices how many does Excelsior take towards an emergency management associates degree? I tried to call but it's new years so they're closed, and I'm getting excited for the answer to this question. For some reason this is the first time this has occurred to me.

I know Michael gates got "all" of his back in 06 but I figured there may have been limits placed since then.

Anybody have any information or anywhere I could go for information? Old threads? Anything. Cannot find this data anywhere.

I'm usually all about cheap, but if it's no risk I'll gladly do it for $60 a credit to get over half the degree. Still not a bad deal given the ease and speed of credit achieved. I realized that if they take all of it and I combine my NFA, Certs, AP, and ALEKS I could be just a couple classes away from a degree. Just want to check. Thanks a ton!

    1. It is currently $75 per semester hour credit

    2. Excelsior counts FEMA from Frederick CC as applied professional (AP), so they will allow as many as you have room for. For example if you have room for 29 AP credits they will accept 29 FEMA credits, If you only have 3 AP credits left to fill they will only allow 3 in transfer.

The one exception is IS-242 (FEM 134): Effective Communication which Excelsior transfers in as a Humanities course.

Remember 1 AP credits is taken up by the required Info Lit course.

    Hope that helps.

One more thought, I do not think they offer an associates degree in HS ( Homeland Sec.) , rather I think what you would get is a Liberal Arts AS degree with a focus in HS.

OK, that would still be perfect, a more general degree would be good as I remain uncertain of my end-goal. What I'm trying to figure out is how many AS credits there are for an associates degree at excelsior. I'm looking at their programs page and don't really know what I'm looking for.

go to the Excelsior website and down load the 2009 Liberal Arts catalog. Pages 19 & 20 have the information you seek.

The Excelsior AA and AS degrees in Liberal Arts each require 60 units. The AA alows up to 11 professional credits and the AS up to 29 professional credits.

Oh my goodness you people know so much! I'm extremely grateful; however, I am afraid this is something of a dead end... I would get little more than TESC allows for FEMA credit and at great expense, therefore, this is an unlikely option.

Thank you so much, back to the drawing board I'm afraid....
