OK, so I tried ALEKS and I'm almost done with my first class and it's a really cool, quick and above all, cheap way to get credit if you are motivated! Frustrating but quick. I only recently heard about ALEKS and am wondering if there is anything else that works the same way or is in the same vein? Cost is very important but I'll consider anything if the pay-off is good. I'm looking forward to your answers! I'm very willing to work, but I want to be able to sit down and knock it out quickly if I have time (i've been doing almost 8 hours a day on ALEKS on many days). PS: I'm already aware of straighterline, FEMA, CLEP and NFA. On a side note: I am not sure if I'll do TESC, but as far as TESC is concerned does anybody know what classes are considered duplicates in ALEKS? I thought I saw a list once but cannot find it for the life of me.
Bumpity Dumpity Bumpity Dumpity replied to a call, Bumpity Dumpity did this for all. So registered users, both women and men, Could see this great post on the first page again.
The list is on the <cough> other board, however, since I'm the author I see no reason that I can't post it here. Latest (12/26/09) breakdown for ALEKS at TESC. Here we go- 15 math credits and 3 business/free elective. That's 18 in all!! Watch for the duplications. 001 Beginning Algebra- MAT102 002 Intermediate Algebra- MAT115 003 College Algebra- MAT121 *TESC Duplicate College Algebra w/trig 004 College Algebra with Trig- MAT121 *TESC Duplicate College Algebra 005 PreCal- MAT129 *TESC Duplicate Trig 006 Trig- MAT129 *TESC duplicates PreCal 007 Intro Stats- STA201 *TESC Duplicate beh. stats 009 Stats for Beh. Science- STA201 *TESC Duplicate intro stats 008 Business Stats- OPM351 You can do better though, if you take CLEP College Math in place of Beg. Algebra, you'll get 6 credits (MAT102,MAT103). You can still take both, but you'll duplicate MAT102, thus only earning 3 credits for that exam not 6. Even still, that's 21 math credits- which overflow into gen ed electives which overflow into free electives.
There is also UExcel, which is similar to CLEP. The tests are reviewed by ACE, and they have a partnership of some kind with Excelsior College. http://www.uexceltest.com/exams/
*bump* It's been a long time and I'm running out of ALEKS courses. I was hoping that maybe in the last several months somebody may have turned up something?
