I am looking for a consensus on the word count of this sample capstone. Please see link: http://www.aspen.edu/downloads/sample%20capstone%20project1.pdf It totals 37 pages. 4 of which are reference pages, and a couple of diagrams/charts at the very end. This paper is done in APA format in a Times New Roman 12 pt. type. Thanks, Abner
I'm sure you can write a better capstone than this - I do not think the sample is graduate level work. I copied and pasted the sample into word which gave a word count of 7,092 words.
I was always taught that word count concerned only the body of the paper. References, table of contents, title page, tables and figures were not included. My count of this sample was approximately 6,200 words.
Ah, thanks Ian. I should have thought of that! I am punch drunk from X-Mas shopping I guess. Was the 7,092 total on the entire sample including references, charts, etc.? I am wondering about the comments NGC6205 is making below: #7 Today, 12:51 PM NGC6205 Registered User Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Here, I used to be there, but I moved. My word count was for the entire document less the ghant chart. I agree word count should exclude titles, references, contents, etc -- but you will have these pages anyway. Although some colleges specify a word count or page count I believe the count should me minimized but the document must be complete and comply with all capstone course requirements. I also believe the introduction should be understandable to someone who who is smart but has little or no knowledge of the subject matter. If Aspen does not issue a guide here is the ERAU guide that I had to use - perhaps it will give you some ideas: http://library.erau.edu/worldwide/help/grp-guide.htm
Thanks Ian and everyone else for your help! I need to get my booty moving on this!!!! Happy Holidays! Abner
