I have finally made my final final decision on the school I plan to attend starting January 4th. I seriously considered Jack Welch MBA program at Chancellor University, but after careful consideration, that program appears to be more like an eMBA and has no specialization. My goal is to get out of claims and move into Risk/Financial Analyst type of position and work on CPCU/ARM-E programs concurrently with the MBA.

What impressed me about Davenport's MBA in Finance is that it has 21 units in Finance and you can take one 7-week class at a time, and complete the program in less than 2 1/2 years while I complete the other designations. Also, veterans get a 25% discount, so the entire program is around 13 to 15K depending on the preq. courses.

Below is the list of courses I would need to complete. I put down the optional preq. course STAT500. I don't know if it's worth it to take this course. I have already taken a 4 unit statistics class and have over 40 hours of in class videos and all 12 chapters of power points, completed homework assignments and test to review if I have to. Not sure how that STAT will look on my transcript if I want to teach part time. What I like about Davenport's STAT class is that is used Minitab for all of the assignments.

I would like to get feedback on a roadmap to complete the course. I plan to speak with the advisor on either Monday or Tuesday to sign up for the classes.

    Optional preq.

    MKTG610 Marketing Strategies

    Concentration Courses 18 cr.

    FINC750 Advanced Financial Management

    FINC765 Money and Capital Markets

    Capstone 3 cr.
CAPS790 or MBA Capstone Internship or
CAPS799 or MBA Capstone Experience or
    SABR781 Study Abroad Experience

    ***** probable roadmap *****
Since I want to focus on Finance, I would assume that I can take Organizational development out of the way first the take Marketing strategies.
    1. MGMT645 Organizational Development and Culture
    2. MKTG610 Marketing Strategies

Not sure if I should take STAT500, but this is where I have it listed on the roadmap.
    3. STAT500 Business Statistics
    4. BUSN650 Business Analysis
    5. ACCT640 Managerial Accounting

I selected these two courses as my final two core classes prior to starting the specialization.
