    Hi ALL,

Now Its clear that in sweden a bachelor from a DETC college will allow me to get in a master program I would like to start my undergradute studies.

this is where i need your help. Thanks in advance for the help that will come!

I would like to get my bachelor in business administration.
My first Goal would be the associate.
I have the follwoing credits from swedish universities ( to make the calculations i have considered each 7.5 swedish credits=3 US Credits)

    21 credits in italian language
    6 credits in economics
    3 credits in business administration
    3 credits in maths.

i have choosen ashworth univeristy. when i asked them howmany of these can be transfered, they told me you have to enroll and only after that we will let you know.
i would like to know before enrolling, has someone does this and can help me?
or simply if someone could tell me which are the mandatory courses in an assosiate degree in finance/business administration, so i can estimate how many of the credits i have can be used.
    thanks again

I assume you meant Ashworth College.

It sounds like you have looked at various degree options in depth. However, I would suggest you go with an RA college, not a DETC college - generally recognized as a superior accreditation. Take a look at Excelesiors business programs, both AA and BS
    https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/School_of_Business_and_Technology/Business_Programs
A detailed course catalog can be downloaded from their web site (you may have to register at no cost for publications). An advantage of Excelsior is that you can take courses at any RA colege/university, take cjallenge exams such as CLEP and DSST, take Excelsior courses/exams, or earn portfolio credit. You have 33 units so you only need around 27 more for an AA degree.

I had around 50 units from the UK which Excelsior accepted after evaluation by an independant evaluation service.

It bothers me that I can't find tuition costs on the Ashworth website.

sorry! yes i mean ashworth college

thanks for your reply. Pls note:

i choose ashworth for 2 reasons:
    1- cost
2- for the EU education sistem, NA or RA, are the same, both allow you to get in a master degree.

still i have the option to transfer my AA from ashworth to a RA college for the BS.
what did u do to get your UK credits accepted? did it cost money?
    tnx

Most US colleges/Universities will not accept non-RA credits (a few do and a few might after some debate).

I went through Educational Evaluators for my UK credits and it cost me money (I do not recall how much and it was 16 years ago). I can tell you my approach when you get ready to do this. Each college usually specifies which credential evaluation agency to use.

Re your 21 units of Italian: it all may not fit the course requirements - any excess credits might fall in the elective category.

The list of courses for each AA and BS degree are listed on the Ashworthweb site so you could compare your existing credits with those listed.

The requirements for the Ashworth BSBA is here:
    http://www.ashworthcollege.edu/programs/bachelors-degree/business-administration/program-outline/
Summing up the required courses = 90 units so it looks like there probably a requirement to take the 30 remaining units from the listed business electives and/or general education electives. You could search their site further or ask them directly.

Ashworth has other BS business degrees here:
    http://www.ashworthcollege.edu/programs/bachelors-degree/
Clicking on the area leads you to more information.

It looks like your math, econ and bus credits may transfer to Ashworth but not your Italian credits unless they agree to take them as general education.

The Excelsior BS in Business looks like it would accept all your current credits since it requires great flexibility in the "arts and sciences" component and in the "additional credit" component
    https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/Publications/Business_Catalog.pdf
Excelsior also accepts exams such as CLEP and DSST for credit which can reduce your overall degree costs.

In the end it is the college that decides whether or not to accept your existing credit. In my case Excelsior's evaluator did reject some of my UK courses but give me more credit than I expected for other courses. Then later Excelsior rejected one of my upper level courses from a California State University because they considered it to be lower level.

What you might consider doing is take one or two courses from a USA college and see how it suits you (good value, quality, ease of taking exams, cost of books, customer service).

To maximize utilization of the credit hours already earned I would suggest you earn an AA(General Studies) from American Public University System (APUS). This will leave you with nine (9) courses to take or test-out. You can transfer in up to 45 credit hours (15 courses) leaving 15 credit hours (5 courses) to be completed through APUS.This means you could earn the AA(General Studies) within 1 year possibly less if you test-out with CLEPs or DSSTs. You could then earn a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BA) or Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from APUS or another school.
