    Hey everyone,

I posted here in the past and now I'm back. I would like to thank everyone who contributes to this forum. This forum introduced me to the online programs at East Carolina University and I am very grateful. Two years ago I enrolled in the MS in Instructional Technology program and, on December 18, I will become an ECU Pirate offically at the graduation ceremony in Greenville.

The program is top notch. Dr. Sugar and Dr. Brown are amazing professors. If you are looking at online Instructional Technology programs, this one is worth looking into. I really loved the program, and give it my highest recomendation (particularly courses with Dr. Sugar and Dr Brown).

If I were to pursure a doctorate program in the future, what programs would be a good addition to this masters? I am mostly interested in Education and Technology.

    Thanks,

Hello there, if you are located in NC, Appalachian State has some interesting doctorate programs that are distance learning (some residencies are required), some of their programs only admit students from certain regions in NC. ECU's Educational Doctorate program used to be online, but they have added some in class time to it. You may want to check and see.

What are your career goals, with respect to your doctorate? University of Florida, Nova Southeastern, Capella, Walden and a few others offer doctoral degrees that are alomost completely online (with short residencies). If you are looking for a career OTHER THAN being a full-time tenure-track university professor, then one of these may work well for you. I have colleagues with degrees from each of these (except for Florida, which is brand new).

I'm new to this and I'm in almost the exact same position as Splas. Are there any other schools that are any good. It's kinda overwhelming trying to decide and it's so expensive. How about places like Northcentral? They are a little cheaper. Are they any good? Would that work? How about Breyer State? Are they pretty much the same as the others? I've heard of "degree mills" but what's up with that?

Thank you for the reply. The Florida program looks promising, does anyone know the cost? I have no desire to be a tenure university professor, but I would like to teach/design instruction at a community college. I am also interested in research and being published one day (book or journal).
