Online MA in English that Leads to a Good PhD Program in English

Any suggestions for an online MA in English that leads to a good PhD program (online or B&M) in English?

 

The least expensive MA in English I know of is at Northwestern State University Louisiana: MA English

there is also Morehead State University: MA English


I don't know of any completely online PhD in English programs but Texas Tech has a limited residency PhD in Technical Communication and Rhetoric:

Try East Carolina University (www.ecu.edu). Kindof expensive but state university and great school. All online or B & M...

If you're looking to get into a good PhD program, you'll want to make sure to do the following during your Masters' (in my opinion):
1) Make friends with your instructors, especially those with PhDs and/or tenured faculty. Keep in touch with them so that they can be strong references for you.
2) Try to publish and/or go to conferences as a Masters' student: This goes a long way to eliminating any stigma attached to an online Masters.
3) Your grades will have to be excellent.
4) Your GRE will have to be strong, especially the verbal score.
