My little sister is graduating from W&L this year with a degree in political science/government. She wants to get some sort of business credential and is considering a new 1-year Masters of Management Studies (MMS) program that the Fuqua school at Duke has implemented. I'm not sure this would be worth the money and came across this certificate that can be done online through UNC-Chapel Hill while doing some research for her.

I think the material covered seems fairly comparable other than the fact that the UNC certificate would only be $3200 and she could live at home or with me, the Duke master's program is over 10 times that much plus she would have to pay room and board in Durham.

Here's the link to the Duke program if anyone is interested. http://www.fuqua.duke.edu/programs/other_programs/mms_foundations_of_business/

Any thoughts? Any similar certificates out that might be a good option?

Are you looking for a credit or non credit certificate?? UNC's certificate is non credit bearing.

I don't think she is concerned with it being credit bearing. She will already have her bachelors degree, if she ever decided to pursue a MBA (which I don't forsee her doing) she would likely enroll in a traditional in residence program that takes two academic years regardless of past education. She just wants the credential to differentiate herself in the job market.
