    Hello All,

I had a question regarding W's and F's on transcripts. Okay I don't want these grades to mess up my educational endeavors. First of all, I went to college after high school but I was so indecisive in what I wanted to do. I took a bunch of different classes and there was 1 class that I did not drop in time so I got an F. Then I recieved 2 W's and I took an accounting course and I thought I was doing decent but I ended up with a D. I then took some time off from college and stated working full time. I was around 23 years old when I decided to go back. I eventually went back and I earned my Associate of Arts degree in Business in 2006 with a GPA of 3.2 with no F's or W's! I then enrolled in Bellevue University's Bachelors in Healthcare Mangement program. I decided that I did not want to go into that field anymore, so I dropped the program. The only problem with that is I recieved W's for the 3 courses that I did not take and 2 F's because I did not drop in time. So my GPA with Bellevue is 1.87 I am so upset about this and I know that I should've been more disciplined with my education. Will this make it difficult for me to enroll in another Bachelors program? My goal is to earn my Bachelors in Business/Accounting within the next 2 years or so. Thanks for your feedback/advice.

For example, Thomas Edison State College simply excludes the W, F, and D grades from the degree audit / evaluation when you apply. In essence, you get to start over towards an undergraduate degree and only transfer in the courses with the passing grades. I think most all of the schools have similar policies but you are advised to check with the school(s) from which you are considering earning the undergraduate degree.

If you decide to later earn a graduate degree after completing an undergraduate degree, the transcripts from all attended schools must be sent. By that point though the W, F, and D grades from way back will likely be forgiven although you could explain the situation leading to those poor grades (F and D) on your application to graduate school.

It's worth pointing out, that if you do enroll at TESC, please do not CLEP out of your entire degree. Many grad schools calculate GPA based on your last 60 (or however many) GRADED credits, and if you don't have current grades- those old D's and F's will get pulled back into your GPA for application.

I had to send all of my attended schools to all undergraduate schools I was looking at transferring to...seems like I got hosed!
