    Hi everybody
I want to start a career in Web-marketing but i have not any degree so far in this field. I do not have any programming skill. I am Front-pager (M.S Front Page). But have studied a lot about web-marketing and have been marketing for my website which is my source of earning now a days. I want to join some SEO firm for which I need some sort of certification in this field. Kindly guide some authentic sources. Thanks

You can try going for Google Adsense Certified but I doubt there is a SEO degree. Maybe part of a Bachelor of IT but definitely not a standalone.

Agree with Jack... Look also for web / Internet marketing courses or an e-business certificate to obtain a usable credential.

Many community colleges have these bundled for vocational training, and some courses are offered in the Online modality. Check out Mission College in Santa Clara, CA, USA. (Disclaimer: I'm on the curriculum advisory board for some of the programs there...)

In general though, search engine optimization (SEO) has no extensive, overarching body of principles that would necessitate the scope of a degree.

Consider as well that there are only a few general purpose search engines that matter and all the others (especially the offshore ones) are trying to mimic the successful technologies or find "submarine patents" to do the same...

Just get into the LinkedIn, Facebook, Blog, and other Web 2.0 stuff and you will be SEO through and through. Most of it is a complete [03310151 favorite phrase]circle-jerk[/0330151 favorite phrase] anyway.

You post on someones blog with a link to your blog and then you post an article on a discussion board about the subject (w/a link to your blog) and play with keywords for hours on end.

When you comment on someone else's SEO article you link to your blog, then you get a Twitter account and post things like "Web 2.0 is here to stay, you too can have a website about nothing and make money with ads" Then you follow other SEO tweets and stalk their blogs, which by the way will say the same thing as most everyone else. Then you link the more popular blogs onto your blog and before you know it. Search Optimization has occurred!

Then you have a good time watching your web analytics. Have fun creating your KPI's. I've used Fireclick, WebTrends, and Google Analytics. Feel the tug on your heartstrings as you swim in a mountain of data. Ahhhhh Web 2.0, what a blast.

Closest thing I ever found in my search for SEO/fluff Marketing stuff:

UBC (University of British Columbia) Award of Achievement in Web Analytics

A few other online options to consider:

DePaul University's continuing education department offers a Online Practical Internet Marketing Certificate Program ... 6 weeks, $1,395.

If you're looking for more intensive training, University of Virginia offers a Certificate in eMarketing ... five courses (15 credits) required, $5,355 total

And a full degree program: Full Sail University offers a MSc in Internet Marketing online. The good thing about Full Sail is that they are faily well known in the industry (ex, for their video games related training) ... the main bad points are twofold, first Full Sail is expensive, second they are ACCSC accredited, which is generally seen as being lower than both regional and DETC accreditation, so it would likely not get you into further graduate programs if you chose to go that route, and some people may see it as a "lesser" degree even given Full Sail's generally positive reputation.

I was about to mention these programs. I contacted the guy over the Depaul program a month ago and he was unsure when the next session would start.

Once I finish up at Liberty University, the University of Virginia program might be my next stop.

Wow, now that is impressive. I would love to see a chart like that for all programs that colleges have. At least for business degree's, or degree's where students want to get jobs.

Nice list. The student profile is telling too. Very successful group of students even before the MS program.
