Lately I've been thinking about starting an ESL program at my church. I was wondering if anyone could recommendations a good online TESL/TESOL certificate program that I could take?

I've been browsing and can't figure out which (if any) of these supposed accreditation places is the recognized authority ... ex, I found this program recommended in an old thread:
    http://www.linguaedge.com/tesol-certificate
    They cite accreditation by ITAA:

Any thoughts? I'm more interested in the quality of the education than accreditation since it's just for my personal knowledge and not for a future job, but it would be nice to have in case I decide to go that route later ...

    Thanks :)

Thanks for the recommendation! Have you tried their programs yourself? I'm actually looking for a TESL program, not a TEFL, since I don't plan to travel to other countries atm ...

I found this one from Ahaheim University:
    http://www.anaheim.edu/content/view/430/212/
Seems pretty good, $900, not too long but not just a week's training (complete in "as little as 15 weeks"), and DETC accredited (better than no accreditation ... most of these programs seem to lack any accreditation)

I saw a link on my denomination's seminary's site to tesl.ca which offers their own list of approved programs, so I may investigate some of these, maybe even some in my area if I don't find a suitable online program ...

Re i-to-i: A friend of mine enrolled and was very pleased with the program (tshe had a variety to choose from) that she picked.

Anaheim University's program is taught not just by experts but by very big guns in the language acquisition field. If you don't mind the "DETC only" accreditation, the affiliation with its world-reknown professors will probably benefit you more than any generic regionally-accredited TESL program will...
