Does anybody know of any all online Library Technician programs, either AA or accredited certificate? I know the USDA Grad School offers a track but it isn't ACE approved. Thanks to all who reply. Curtis
The USDA Graduate School is Nationally Accredited so I would expect most employers to accept one of its certificates. Quote: The Graduate School is accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE), a national accrediting body recognized by the Department of Education. Additionally, the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT) has evaluated and recommended college credit for a number of the Graduate School courses. ACE CREDIT connects workplace learning with colleges and universities by helping adults gain access to academic credit at colleges and universities for formal courses and examinations taken in the workplace or other settings outside traditional higher education settings.

However I do not see a Library Technician Certificate - just 5 distance learning courses. There is one community college that we used to refer our library assistants to enroll in, when I worked in a school district: Central Carolina Community College has an online Associates Degree in Library and Information Technology online: http://www.cccc.edu/distanceeducation/degrees/ They also have several certificates that can be earned online also: http://www.cccc.edu/curriculum/majors/library/ If you are not a resident of NC the costs can be a bit expensive, at almost $750 per 3 credit course: http://www.cccc.edu/collegeservices/businessoffice/tuition/
USDA Graduate School Library Technician Courses Evaluated for ACE Credit ACE has evaluated some of the individual courses from the USDA Graduate School and you can search their database of all workplace learning courses that have been evaluated via this link: The National Guide - Find a Course or Exam For example, "Introduction to Library Techniques" has been evaluated in the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category for 2 semester hours in Library Technology. You can enter "Graduate School" as the organization name and "library" in the course description fields in the search form to get a list of all USDA Graduate School Library Technician courses that have been reviewed for ACE credit.
