I am currently attending Argosy University-Online where I am working towards a Bachelor's in Psychology with concentration in Criminal Justice. However, after completing some 52.5% of the degree, I am becoming disinterested in psychology. I have found my passion to be in English--also web design. So now, I am considering a career in either English or web design.

Any ideas where I might turn for Bachelor's degrees in either area? I have not made up my mind fully on either, or if I am even going to change careers yet. However, I am considering it. I would like to find great schools for either, preferably online, and explore options, gain more info., and decide then.

Thanks in advance for any information.

You could minor in English or double major in Psychology and English within your current BA. Alternatively, earning a second BA in English is another possibility. Either way, you could go on to earn a MA/MS in Instructional Design or a similar area of study. Web design, per se, is overrun with low-cost labour and generally a dead-end career path. However, within the context of instructional design you could use many of the same skills with higher ROI.

There are a lot of BA English programs. There is TESC, which is where I went. Total cost for me ended up about $7500 (including CC credits and testing out) and I was able to finish it within a year after transferring in 52 credits. I’m not a big fan of TESC but it got the job done, and let me “check the box” to move on to grad school (which I’m doing in English/Writing and Public History). They require a class in multicultural lit that the only “easy” way to satisfy is to take through them. It’s called African Encounters and I was angry I had to take it (I think it cost me like $530?), but it ended up being my favorite class of my entire undergrad years. I used the final paper I wrote for it as a writing sample for grad school. If you’re willing to put up with all their crap, it’ll get you a degree quickly. Just be forewarned, you will spend a LOT of time dealing with their offices and they are a giant PITA in most things.

I am away from my Bears' Guides at the moment but, just off the top of my head, Southern New Hampshire University www.snhu.edu offers the BA in English online and Champlain College www.champlain.edu offers the BS in Web Design.
