    Dear All,

I have an undergrad degree in Engineering . Now I want to go for Grad degree in Nutrition( I know , I know , total change of careers) via distance learning through Athabasca university. What are the possibilities of they accepting me ? Will I have to take GMAT? or any pre reqs ?

I have emailed the student's councelling section at Athabasca and am still waiting for the reply been 2 days maybe bcz of the weekend.....

Anyways, anyone has any advice lined up for me?

    OK, here's the standard advice:

    1. Lot's of us are changing careers. We know just from reading the newspaper (does anyone actually buy a newspaper anymore) that people change career tracks several times in their lifetime so that's no big deal.

    2. They WILL accept you. You've got a degree and a successful (perhaps short) career. Why would they say no?

    3. GMAT? PreReqs? Who knows? No one memorizes this stuff. I'm sure the school website gives out all this info. Call them, they won't bite (at least they won't draw blood).

as an addendum to my previous post, i'd just want to say that my own view is that any school that creates an online program is actively interested in enrolling as many viable students as possible. They will give you the benefit of the doubt when it comes to admission and then it will be up to you to show them that you belong in their program by performing adequately. You should never worry about applying. You should definitely worry about your ability to keep up with the established standards.

    No Athabasca/ now wat next

Okay I wrote to Athabasca, they do not offer any grad program in dietetics or Nutrition.

Now , anyone , someone paaaleeeeez tell me that what I should do:

Pursue a diploma via distance learning from some any other college online in dietetics and see if it works or not .(Can anyone suggest a good accredited diploma in that case)?

Pursue a master's degree in dietetics via distance learning from an ultra expensive online college?

Wait for my Permanent Resident Card from Canada and then pursue Master's from a Canadian univeristy and meanwhile that I am waiting , I should do a diploma in dietetics?

    Help????time's runnin' out

Have you filed an application for permanent resident status? Are you currently employed or being sponsored by relatives?

Contact the human resources department of a hospital in a city (Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Victoria, for example) and inquire ask their advice about which university or college in Canada from which the hospital prefers to hire graduates? Have you researched the employment market for dietitians?

What do you mean time is running out? What is your immigration status in Canada?
