I'm looking to start my online MBA this Spring and am in need of some advice pertaining to admissions. I have an undergrad degree in Management with a 2.9 GPA (3.5 gpa w/in major) and recently scored a 610 on my GMAT. I'm 24 and I have been with my company almost 2 years. I'm a healthcare IT consultant and travel full time, hence the need for an online program. I haven't found any comprehensive information on admissions for most of the programs I'm looking to apply to. So, hopefully there are some people here in or know someone in the programs I'm looking into that can shed some light on the competiveness of the programs. My number 1 choice would be UMass, Amherst. They advertise their mean GMAT as 550, so it seems i would be good there. However, I do have a low GPA and limited work experience. The other's I'm looking into are: Colorado State, University of Colorado-co springs, Florida State, and Oklahoma State Thank you in advance for any insight offered!
All are good schools. If GPA is an issue, you can try with Texas A&M University - Commerce. They are AACSB.
As a way of comparison, in my program at Indiana the mean GMAT I believe is 630 and the GPA is 3.4. Having said that, it's not JUST about the scores usually - they tend to look at the whole package, especially if there are no caps on enrollment. My suggestion is that you call or e-mail admissions at each of the schools you are interested in, tell them your story and flat out ask them if you'd be competitive. It's not a national secret - I'm sure they'd tell you right out if you're in the running.
