    Hi,

I have a question regarding distance learning. Currently I have a bachelor degree (Hons) from U.K. institution and I am planning to continue my master study by distance learning. I did a research about some reputable universities in U.S who are offering the master of computer science by distance learning (e.g. Colorado State University, University of Illinois, Binghamton University, etc). My question is, after the completion of this distance learning program, what is my chance to get admitted at one of the university in U.S. for on-campus PhD of computer science program? Thank you.

One of the major, major, major things you'll want to look for is whether any of those unis will allow you to write a thesis (many DL programs are strictly non-thesis). If you're willing to consider a doctorate in computer science via distance learning or short residency (at least as one of your "safety school" options), Pace University www.pace.edu in New York offers the DPS in Computing via DL.

The MCS (Master of Computer Science) at Colorado State University Fort Collins www.colostate.edu does not offer a thesis.

The MS in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Springfield www.uis.edu requires a 4-hr. Graduate Research Seminar, which seems to be the thesis in disguise.

The MS in Computer and Electrical Engineering at the State University of New York Binghamton www.binghamton.edu did not give a detailed enough program description to ascertain whether one may write a thesis.
