I would appreciate it if someone could help me understand if this CC would accept credits earned at PF:

    Foothill CC website states:

    Credit From Other Institutions

Foothill accepts credit from institutions accredited by one of the six regional accrediting associations or follows the recommendations of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

    Penn Foster's website states:

Additional Penn Foster College institutional and faculty memberships and affiliations include:

    * American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO)

I've never heard of the AACRAO but is Foothill saying that as long as PF is a member of AACRAO that it will accept PF's credit or does it have to has some type of accredidation by the AACRAO? I went to AACRAO website I just couldn't tell much from their website.

Any thoughts? Yes, I know I could send an email off to Foothills but I think asking at DI would probably be quicker.

    Thanks!

Not knowing anything about Foothill CC, I would say "probably." If Foothill accepts ACE-reviewed credit, then they would accept PFC credits from a degree program. Most courses in PFC degree programs are reviewed by ACE.

In PFC's case, I don't know if membership in the AACRAO is the same as have course recommendations done by them.

Are you talking about this Foothill CC in California?

If so, why are you asking about this college if you live in Tennessee? California CCs are expensive for out of state residents.

    Just curious.

Well, you're right I do live in Tn and have for many many years now. But I was born and raised in California. I'm enrolled in Penn Foster but recently I've become aware of California's "Non-Resident Tuition Exemption" for all of California's public institutions CC, CSU & UC. Even though I live in another state, I attended and graduated from a high school in Ca. Which qualifies me for the exemption. PF's tuition is low cost but even they can't beat California's Community College tuition rates. So, if I can find a Ca CC with a complete online program, which Foothill has, I can enroll in it at in-state cost. But I'd like to receive credit for the classes I've completed at PF.

That's good to know. I had no idea. I am also a California native. California CC's are great!

I looked for details on this since my son is not a California resident. Unfortunately you have to have completed 3 years minimum to meet this requirement. Depending on the college administration this may involve a lot of bureaucracy.

Yea, this law is something that will only benefit people who attended (all three years) and graduated from a high school in California. From the CC web site I read it's just a matter of submitting the proper forms (proof of graduation, the time period you attend and the exemption request itself) along with your application. I did copy & post the exemption requirements in an earlier posting but it kinda seems like it can take a little while for DI posts to get approved. That's why I accidentally submitted the double post earlier I didn't know it would take as long as it did for approval from the moderator (...I guess that's what takes so long).

Any time you deal with the government (or one of it's entities) it will involve a lot of bureaucracy. I would be disappointed if it didn't.
