Schwarzenegger has until midnight Sunday either to sign or veto more than 700 bills on his desk. He has threatened to veto them all unless the legislature passes the tax reforms he wants. The bill to reinstate school licensing in California is on the pile, probably about 697th in priority, or interest to the media. So about 108 hours to go.
28 hours to go Saturday evening If the governor either vetoes or ignores AB48 in the next 28 hours, California will continue, for another year* or two, as the only state with no school licensing whatsoever. It's not a great bill, but it's the only one on his desk. _______ * It is possible that a special session of the legislature will be called to deal with the financial crises, and any other bill could be introduced at that time...but AB48 took a full year to move through the entire legislative process.
16 hours to go One wonders. If you had 700 unsigned bills on your desk, would you? (Just signing a 20-letter name 700 times (pass or veto) is a bit of a time consumer. And he does seem to write it out in full and legibly.)
No he dosn't -- He refused to take a salary when he was elected governor (or maybe he takes a dollar).
Arnold takes no pay for his job as governor. He lets the state keep its $175,000 per year. On a side note, the Governator was himself a distance-learning student. He earned his BA in Business from the University of Wisconsin-Superior's "University Without Walls" program, back when it was a correspondence program. The only time he had to go to campus was to earn his credits in physical education. He became a self-made millionaire prior to becoming Mr. Universe or an actor. He sold mail-order nutritional supplements and used that money to invest in California real estate.
