I am hoping to be an academic, and I do know that research papers do contribute positively for an academic. My masters are more of engineering, was thinking of that an Masters in Statistics will help me a lot especially when doing research that needs to have some number crunching. Any particular, asynchronized Online Masters of Statistics available? Hopefully cheap and good.

Colorado State University has a MS in statistics ($17,760 according to their printed catalog) and two Graduate Certificates ($6,820 each):

This is a reasonably priced cost MS degree from a good school.

But do you really need this degree? - I do a lot of engineering related statistical analysis and I do fine with my MSQA from CSUDH (which is now also offered on-line).
