Unwonderful of the week: Canyon College

Oldtimers will remember Canyon College, a highly unwonderful institution associated with the equally awful Breyer State University, and "accredited" by a number of fraudulent accrediting agencies.

In the last entries I can find on Degreeinfo, the school was in Caldwell, Idaho back in 2005. Operating five different degree programs from somebody's not-very-large house.

The reason I'm bringing it up is that I was doing a search for distance-based MSW programs, and what should come up in Google but... a completely worthless MSW program offered by Canyon. But the interesting part is that Canyon now claims to be operating from yet another not-very-large house in a not-so wonderful section of Carmichael, CA, a suburb of Sacramento. Since I live not terribly far from there, it piqued my interest that much more. Michael Storrs, associated with the earlier incarnation and with other unwonderfuls in the past, is listed as "President Emeritus" but the current president is not listed. (Perhaps Michael doesn't know what "Emeritus" means.)

I particularly find the faculty section amusing. The pics all look like they are either 20 years old, were scanned out of a college yearbook, were swiped from other websites, or all of the above. If somebody has a few minutes to Google some of the faculty, it would be interesting to see if the people exist, if they have the claimed degrees, and if they are even aware that their names and credentials are being associated with this unwonderful program.

Particularly worth reading for amusement is the famous Levicoff Letter, found in this thread, in which Steve rips the proprietor of the school a new one for attempting to hold some feckless teacher to an unenforceable agreement to teach for (or, more precisely, to lend his name to) Canyon.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has any other updated information on this dreadful program or its proprietors.

I wonder who would accept Canyon College's 36-hour Master of Divinity.
