So I am taking my MBA final this Friday by proctor. I have several VERY thick books I need to lug into the testing center for the open book test. What would you guys take? One of those rolling carts? A back pack? A side bag? I guess I am getting nervous because I am worrying about something silly like this.

    Opinions would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Abner :)

I use one like that at work. Maybe I will borrow it over the weekend.

This issue frequently comes up in licensing exams for professional engineers and land surveyors. The exams are open book, and are usually held in county fairgrounds, convention centers, or other venues that hold hundreds or thousands of examinees. Commonly there is a long trek from the parking lot to the exam room.

You will see all kinds of improvised solutions, but the approach recommended by engineers is the Pack-n-Roll folding cart or equivalent, basically a strong collapsible box with wheels and a telescoping handle. It all folds up tidily when not in use. I ordered mine online, but I think I've seen them at Home Depot.

Nice! I'm going to go the office depot or home depot near my house and pick one up tomorrow. I think this is perfect!

    Thanks!

Thanks so much! I appreciate the sentiment, I am getting super nervous now that it is getting closer.

As far as the results. I am guessing it will take at least 2-3 weeks.

Have a good day and thanks once again,

    Abner :)

Take all the books. They will help jog your memory and be a good security blanket. Open book exams are designed in such a way that the book is only helpful to jog your memory.

It is a nice cart. I went and bought the exact same thing at Target only it is Rubbermaid brand ($20.00). It is lightweight, and folds up in seconds. What I really like about it is the handle telescopes out long enough so you don't have to bend down and end up looking like Igor! :)

Thanks for the suggestions and well wishes everyone. I would really recommend one of these carts for this type of situation. I am going to keep it in my trunk from now on.

    Have a good one!

Check with Aspen as to which you can bring...you probably will have to cite during the testing

Many people like to load their books into the cart with their spines facing up. Then when they reach the exam site, they collapse the handle, leaving a box. Then they lift the box up onto the exam table, and turn it so that the open end of the box faces them. So it's like having a shelf of books next to you during the exam. This only works if you get a big table for the exam though.
