Can't Decide on School

I was planning on starting my first semester at Troy University soon. The program I am interested in is the Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science, but I'm starting to have second thoughts about it. I'm now considering the BBA in MIS at Fort Hays instead.

Thing is, I've already applied, been accepted, and completed my FAFSA and student loan information with Troy. I've also clepped most of Troy's general education requirements, 45 credits worth. FHSU has a completely different clep policy. They only accept 30 clep credits, and they don't accept any of the general exams, but I can use Straghterline to pick up 18 credits toward the degree and still clep some of the subjects. FHSU will only accept 9 of the 45 clep credits that I currently have, so I will have to take some additional exams that I otherwise would not take if I stayed with Troy.

My issue with Troy is that they're very unresponsive to questions, and I don't like the direction that the school is headed. They're like UoP with sports teams (no offense if you're a UoP student), and I've heard from students that their courses aren't very rigorous. I'm afraid that they're going to turn into a public version of DeVry.

Anyway, what do you suggest? Which is the better school, Troy or FHSU?

Buyer's remorse or simply unsure which option, Applied Computer Science versus Management Information Systems, is better for your future needs?

It would seem a waste of those 36 CLEP credits if you switch schools unless there is some underlying issue that warrants a departure from Troy University. People do change schools and sometimes walk away from earned credit hours.

No offense but shouldn't you have addressed these concerns before enrolling?

Troy University and Fort Hays State University are legitimate schools. Preference is very subjective. Once you earn the degree the name of the school or the subject area fades in importance with each passing year of employment. There are graduates and current students of both schools on this board.

Based on what you've said, it would probably be best for you to stick with your first choice and go all the way to the finish line. A rolling stone gathers no moss. You're already accomplished quite a bit through them by clepping (good job on that).

Besides, Troy should have a T-shirt that reads:

    Troy University Football:
    Undefeated!

    :D

Welcome to the board and thanks for the buckshot of insults.

I would say Troy, but since I'm a Fort Hays student - pick the Tigers.

Troy has been around for a while. They won't change into something entirely new within a few years.

    Troy

I do have a bias but Troy was quick to respond to any question or problem during my studies. I am proud of my degree from Troy. Also, contrary to your thoughts of the university turning into some online monster, it continues to expand brick and mortar facilities and programs. Lastly, having a good football team is a positive thing for any university. Not every school gets the opportunity to play the top team in the nation.

Well, Troy University's staffs respond to your question within 48 hours; but the Intructors respond to you almost immediately. Flipping the other side, Southern Mehtodist University staff's respond to you right away...but the instructors take forver to respond to you.

For the Distance Learning, you might have this but not that. I graduated from Troy University, but recommended my co-worker to Fort Hays State University simply is what you need and tuition that fit your pocket. Troy University just won the football game yesterday...but lost to the Gators the other weekend.
