I have a Bachelor in Computer Science that was awared after 3 years of education (103 credit hours) and now I cannot get admission to any masters program because they require a 4 year-120 credit hours degree. I have been told that if I go out and get a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science or IT I may qualify for admission. Is this true? Can someone can point me to a Post Graduate diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology.

  2. A good choice would be the BSc(Hons) at University of South Africa. This is a one-year graduate program that builds upon a 3-year Bachelor's in CS. Unisa also has a BSc(Hons) in Information Systems if that's more attractive. You can expect the BSc(Hons) to be accepted in the U.S. for admission to a Master's program.

While my university would accept a 1 year diploma along with a 3 years bachelors for admission to our masters program, this may not be true at every school. You should check out the specifics at each place that you plan on applying. On the other hand, as Gert says, the B.Sc.(Hons.) would be accepted by any US graduate school.

Thanks a lot Gert and hworth. I truly appreciate your help. I would be looking into the B. Sc(Hons.) at UNiversity of South Africa...
