Well I got an email from my mentor this evening that said, "Congratulations. Your CP has been accepted! You know what I miss about brick & mortar schools? In the past when a learner and I achieved a milestone we would go out and celebrate. Hard to do in our situation. However, tonight I will hoist a beverage in your honor and silently give you three cheers."

I know I expressed some frustration with the CP process (and I am still frustrated) but it is behind me and I have a whole new set of frustations ahead of me. A least I have a better understanding of the process and how much it hurts :D

Back to the monkey business...it is funny, a few years ago my employer created a position called a "Software Application Specialist" and there were nine of us that covered the country. Our manager (director of field service) called us "Space Monkeys" because he said we were like the monkeys that were sent into space - important job but no one really knew what was going to happen. I guess I am just a "PhD Monkey" now. Thanks meagain for the monkey label ;)

heeheehee :) You're dream of being a special monkey has come true!

I wish that I could tell you that the remaining ordeals are going to be simpler and less troubling, but that would be a fabrication. However, now you have a taste of things to come. In a worst case scenario, you might have to re-take a course if it can't be done in the allocated time-limit. Either way, if you don't get too confused during the process, the only thing that will prevent you from graduating is if you walk away from the process in frustration because many doctoral students take the process-of-rejections personally, so their feelings get hurt after getting their paper rejected so many times. The important thing to remember is that you aren't being rejected; it's the paper, concept, grammar or analysis that is being rejected. Take the rejection, obey the requests and resubmit -- and then do it again -- and then keep doing it. When the process is over, you'll feel squished, sort of like Mount Everest was removed from your chest.
