On paper, Excelsior's BS in Liberal Studies look good. Have any of you guys transferred A.A.S.(electrical/mechanical) credits into this program? I have never heard anybody mention Excelsior College on degreeinfo.
I earned a BSLS from Excelsior. I transferred in around 60 credits from my UK certificates in engineering from the UK. They were counted as electives. If your AAS is from an RA college I would expect that Excelsior would accept them. Excelsior is mentioned often on degreeinfo - I must have mentioned it dozens of times as have many other posters.
I hear that it can be useful depending on where you'll want to transfer and what you need to have banked. There are some classes Excelsior will accept for credit that others won't, but in some cases the hesitant schools will be MORE than happy to accept once Excelsior has taken them. It sounds strange on the surface, but what plays out is that some schools just won't risk accepting certain credits directly under their own name. In other cases, students aren't sure where they're going to land, so having them pile up at Excelsior or TESC buys them some time to get some coursework done before deciding on a school Therefore credit banking is an expensive tool, but useful in some cases.
Ec = slow If you use credit banking and basically dump all your earned credits into a EC transcript (-) the F’s, and the (-+) on each grade (C- becomes a C) (B+ becomes a B). Then ask for a tentative degree plan workout by EC. The folks in admissions are not the best in visually peeking into the various categories of general education, so if you have them do the work$$, it will be so simple….. At the front end, otherwise get ready to defend, and waste more time – BTW, EC is BEST at being SLOW, so don’t help them. Think McDonalds – have it their way…..
