I need an Associate Dean of Academic Affairs
I know this is not a job board, but if you know anyone who may be a good fit please pass my email along to them. Primarily looking for someone with a DETC accredited doctorate (are there any yet?) or at a minimum a doctorate that was completed primarily through DL. -

Two questions: 1) When do you plan to make a decision? 2) Would you entertain the notion of hiring a JD holder for the position? (They count as doctorates in most states and for regional accreditation even though they are not doctorally prepared.) Dave Wagner

I'm not interested in the position, but I plan to post some info about you position on the Capella U discussion boards.
Would you consider ABD if completing by December or so, if the candidate had the requisite higher ed experience?

Shawn Hi Shawn:
Unfortunately, I cannot accept ABDs, and I hope the search will not go on until December, so they are out of luck :-(
However, I sincerely appreciate you putting this on the Cappella U boards :-)

DEL DETC School, needs a doctorate for Associate Dean.
Yes they offer an Ed.D but does that mean the dean of Academic Affairs needs a ph.d? Perhaps yes, perhaps no. Rare as it may be, I know RA University Presidents who only had a BA.
What could aspen be up to, I don't know about the comments of Hille? or this is my way of responding to those that have said that DI isn't what it used to be?
(Or perhaps its because I have been ill all morning and I really can't do anything but be ill) -
I'm not qualified for the position, and don't know anyone who is, but I wanted to give Aspen some kudos for "eating their own dog food" so to speak and looking for someone whose qualifications were earned via DL. Best of luck! University of Wyoming, BS, Business Administration, December 2004

Best of luck! How about going for the "full can of dog food" and hiring a DL doctorate who was not required to be physically on campus! :)
(I do meet the general criteria, but cannot relocate! :) )

Hello David,
I will inquire with some colleagues. Being in Denver is definitely an advantage. Do you have a job description available? I did not see one on your website. Since I am an academic dean, I wonder how much it resembles my position.

dlady...just wanted to pop in and say ditto on the kudos for looking for a DETC doctorate. I've always been confused as to why so many DETC schools only consider RA degree holders for their adjunct and faculty positions. I always found that to be somewhat two-faced.
Good luck on your search and if I didn't say it earlier, congrats on the job. I've always been impressed by Aspen. Say, are those $3,000 masters degrees ever going to come back? ;) AKA Cajun from eLearners.com
