    ism....

Well guys I have been formally invited and accepted into this program! It's taken a lot of documentation, case reviews, proof of experience, transcripts, curriculum vitae, training attended, etc. but now the fun begins....sort of. I have been researching like a madman trying to make sure that starting an out of country master's will not hinder me here in the U.S. This is a very solid program from what I can tell and the coursework appears to be challenging and interesting. The master's program consists of four core units and four elective units. This is typically a one year program. Is the fact that it's a one year program hiner me at all? I know of several one year master's programs but again I just don't know how a one year master's is perceived.

So I'll just throw it out there like this. I want anyone with an opinion and the ability to type to throw out their thoughts. I do not care if it's positive or negative as I am simply looking for honesty. I always use the information that all of you present to come up with an informed decision and so far I've been doing great. My main concern has always been the utility of a master's from another country and how it applies to academia and the business world.

To answer a few questions that you might have I am still on path to completing the bachelor's but it won't be until the spring. I have debated this for a while now and what I see is this. I can complete both degrees right around the same time and be done. I have no intention of pursuing a doctorate. The only other academic consideration would be another master's which would be in digital forensics. Forensics is currently part of my job duties.

Overall my feelings are that this program (if accepted here in the U.S.) would be well suited for private sector and government work. This is due to the courses that cover security related issues and how they apply specifically to businesses and government. At some point I would like to try my hand at the private sector and actually make some money. I also like the fact that this degree would prepare me to present ideas on how to protect and secure property, buildings, personnel, etc.

So here I am excited but nervous. I don't want to make the wrong decision and end up regretting choosing this particular path. I know that no one here can tell the future but most of you have been through this type of situation before. Again my main concern is that I would complete the degree but then not be able to use it afterwards because of ignorance. As it is we already see discrimination when it comes to online programs so add to this the fact that it's from outside of the U.S. educational system and you can see why I'm concerned. From what I've read and from some posts here Macquarie is a well respected university in law enforcement. This is good but how does the business world see it?

As always I thank everyone here who offers advice. It is appreciated and I always factor it in when making my final decision. Also for those wanting to see the program here is a link to it....
