I am living in Thailand and would like to apply for an online degree but I'm not sure where to look. I am originally from Ireland so is it better to get one from my own country or does it matter?
I can't say if it matters where or how you earn a degree - although depending on your age, experience, and future career goals it might make a difference. Here are some places to look for distant learning degrees: My brother-in -law lives in Ireland and earned a BSc in biology via distance learning through the UK Open University. The OU has a wide variety of degrees http://www3.open.ac.uk/study/ The University of London, UK, also offers a wide variety of degrees http://www.londonexternal.ac.uk/ If a US degree fits your needs check out Excelsior College https://www.excelsior.edu/ There are two similar colleges - COSC and TESC And here is a very well known US school offering undergrad and grad degrees http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/online-bachelor-degree.shtml Nearer to Thailand is the Open University of Maylaysia http://www.degreeinfo.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=309600
I'm on a budget and need to work full time, some of these unis are expensive in Thailand. It's difficult to get an international program in the evening or weekends.
Well, give us your budget, your situation and what you are aiming for and you can be sure to get some valid help around here.
If cost is an issue then check out these University of South Africa distance degrees http://www.unisa.ac.za/default.asp?Cmd=ViewContent&ContentID=17013 Costs are here http://www.unisa.ac.za/contents/studyinfo/docs/download/brochures_2009/studyfees_09.pdf R1000R = US$127 = THB4300. UNISA is just a suggestion. I have no personal knowledge of UNISA except what is included in these web sites.
If you are looking for online degree then I think country hardly matters. The foremost point is accreditation. You need to check for university’s accreditation from UK or US board of Education.
