I found a bio from someone with a Psy.D. from Newport University (1992). I know there is a Newport University mill but is there a real one circa 1992 that was APA approved for someone to be labeled a licensed Psychologist? Perhaps is was a California school and APA degrees are not required?

    Hey Randell,

I am guessing its the mill. Christopher Newport University (www.cnu.edu) doesn't offer a doctorate as best I can tell. Looks like only bachelor degrees and 2-4 masters.

    Just googled it.

    Hope this helps!

Newport University was California-approved to offer a PsyD on Jan 1, 1991. The degree was license-qualifying in California.

It definitely wasn't CNU. Back in 1991 it was still Christopher Newport College. Even now, like you suggested, CNU only grants bachelor degrees and about 2 masters, one of which is a MAT for the 5 year program.

There is/was a Newport University in Newport Beach, CA

Their claim to legitimacy at one time was that they were certified to a ISO 9000 series standard.
