I am currently trying to research all possible options for a PhD. I have so many questions and I was hoping to get some feedback. My first question is PhD or PsyD? (Psychology) Which is better and more accepted for careers? As for schools, between professional schools such as The Chicago School, Alliant, Phillips Graduate Institute ect. and Universities such as Universities of California or near CA since I reside here. Which is the better option? Professional schools offer flexibilty and faster completion programs for so much $$$ and are easier to get into I suppose. But universities are just as expensive $$$ but take much longer to complete. Are professional schools frowned upon when it comes to applying for a job? Are they just as equal on a resume? What about the tuition fees? I've heard some Universities assist students with tuition but does that apply to all students or just a select few? Any info to help gear me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated:)

"Is it Ph.D or PsyD?" The answer is from you, what do want to do with your degree? If you want to practice and not intend to teach, then Doctor of Psychology (PsyD). And if you want to teach, I would think it is better to go with Ph.D. That is the same with the school; you have more recognition if you plan to teach. The traditional college only gives stipend for those full-time Doctoral students; however, not everyone can receive these stipends due to the school fund. In order to receive stipend you have to be on top applicants; besides, you have to teach or research in the second or third year at the institution.

I have never seen any distance learning school provide stipend for students except the Yellow Ribbon Program (Post 9/11 GI Bill).
