Well, found out yesterday my husband will be out of work in Sept, and in the state of Alaska he may have trouble finding a job in his field but I am sure we will be OK. I have been playing around with school long enough and I need to get serous about getting a degree. I have decided I need to chase the money and I am looking at an accounting degree, there seems to be plenty of that type of work here and it pays well for someone with a bachelors.
Any school recommendations? I have so far I have checked out Colorado Tech and Western Govenors. There will be time later for the dream job, but with his job loss there goes 3/4 of our monthly income so I need to hustle.
    Thanks
    Patricia

I am not sure if this would suit you, but University of London External System offers a Diploma for Graduates in Accounting, BSc in Accounting and Finance and a BSc in Accounting with Law. The lead college for all three is the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)

    http://www.londonexternal.ac.uk/prospective_students/undergraduate/index.php

Diploma for Graduates is 4 courses and £1,099, the BSc 12 courses and £3,013 via standard route and 9 courses and £2,278 via graduate entry route (for those who already have a Bachelor's). UoL will also grant exemptions for certain courses in the BSc curricula if you can prove you have already passed courses similar in level, content and standard.

It would not be fast (minimum 3 years for BSc if you do not have a Bachelor's, 2 if you do) and from what I've read about UoL it wouldn't be easy to get (tough exams), but it is quite cheap and UoL is well respected.

There would be no instruction though, you would have to study independently (they would send you the study guides, previous exam papers and such). You would also have to find an examination center (they mention they have over 150 examination centers in the USA)

First of all, check with your State Board of Accountancy to see what degree is required to sit for your CPA exam.
