Alrightey - missed the fall registration for a lab course ( 1 hr ) - does anyone know where I can pick up a 1 hr lab for either Physics, Biology or Geology? I'd like to complete it this fall so I can finish up my undergrad by December
American Public University System (AMU, APU) offers 1-credit hour labs in physics, biology, etc. I am not sure whether you can enroll in a single course without being admitted to a degree but you can always ask.
I just had a gander and for AMU you need to be concurrently enrolled in the corresponding course to take the lab... so no dice on there.. thanks for the suggestion, though..
We both ran into the same problem at Fort Hays. I planned on taking physical science, but the labs filled up fast.
I know it's 4 credits, but could you take the Biology for General Education with Lab at Clovis Community College? Probably cheaper than most 1 credit lab options. Shawn
I sure they would. I would talk to my advisor before making any moves. I think the only sciences with lab that FHSU offer is physical science, and geology.
FCCJ has some online 1 credit labs (just put in the word lab on the search menu): http://mis.fccj.edu/ocs/OpenClassKeywordSearch.aspx I did see the earth and space (which is geology) requires a pre or co-requisite, but I don't think it has to be taken from them. You could always write and ask them. They've been extremely helpful when I've had questions and willing to work outside of the box.
Another thought...did you talk to the school where you missed the fall registration? A lot of school give priority registration to students who are graduating, and they may still be able to get you in.
Unfortunately once the class is full, it's full... my only hope now is that someone will drop a lab class within the first week of fall classes and that I can jump in then...
Perhaps - but I already have the Biology/Physics/Geology courses, so I just need a corresponding lab hour.... good thought though!
I am quite certain AMU/APU will allow you to register in their lab course since you already took the theory course elsewhere. I would contact them. I know the lab course must be taken with the theory course when the student does not have the theory course already completed. One of the students in my meteorology course at AMU failed the lab course due to a few late or missed assignments and had to redo it but not the theory course which she passed easily. Double check because the lab course is not overly difficult and could be done on weekends without interfering with any other courses.
