All, I'm looking at my "official" transcript from Regents (now Excelsior). How does one determine their GPA? (Believe it or not, it's not mentioned anywhere in the transcript, just a list of classes.) Ugh. Thanks, Ellis
The way I do it (based on how Regents used to determine the GPA) : Average the GPA for graded courses/exams, ignoring pass grades. I can't say for sure the methodology would be the same, but if you'd email me, I'd be happy to send you the GPA calculation worksheet we distribute to our students. That bothered me too when I first saw mine. However it does seem to be pretty much standard operating procedure for schools not to show grades for credits that were transferred into the program or tested out of, and only to show grades that were earned at that institution. Since most Regents programs consist exclusively of transfer or test credits, I can't fault them much. Happy New Year. TommyK
I did have a number of tests that I took at that institution. (Regents College exams). I also remember a GPA on all of the correspondence I had with them. Oh well. I'm calculating it now. (I need it for a job application with the government.)
If Excelsior does not calculate GPA, why should you? When I got my undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College, Bowdoin was using an alternative grading system and did not calculate GPA. I have completed two RA graduate programs and been accepted to three or four others. When asked for my undergrad GPA I have always just stated that my college did not calculate GPA. Hworth
