WNMU & Blackboard Problems

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone else was having issues with blackboard over at WNMU. Every now and then I'll try to log on and it will display the courses I'm enrolled in. When I click the course to enter the classroom, it will give me an error saying it cannot load the page. IE will not load it, and Firefox say something about a loop that cannot be completed.

Am I the only one having these issues?

When I was enrolled with them I had multiple issues with their systems. Sorry to hear that this is a continuing problem.

 

From what I gathered from my professor, the state of New Mexico required all of the institutions to change to Blackboard Vista. When I was taking classes in the spring, I never had issues logging on, but I am having them occasionally with this new format. I can log on and see my courses, but when I try to enter them it will not load. Usually I just wait a few minutes and the problem solves itself. I was just wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this though.

I have had numerous problems logging on. I sent an email to Katherine Warren, she said for me to document everytime I try to log on but can't access my class and email it to her. I've emailed all of my professors to let them know about the problem so we shall see!

 

Not sure it's WNMU...

Blackboard/VISTA is notoriously unreliable and their tech support is not so good IMHO. Now that Blackboard bought Angel (which instructors love) the pundits are calling the merger "Black Angel". There was much complaining on CHE about Bb and the merger.

I have the exact same problem. When that happens, click the log out button up top and then re-login. It works for me every time this issue comes up. It usually occurs for me when I fail to log out a previous session and simply close the page.

 

Sometimes when I try to log into the classroom, it gives me some idiotic message that Internet Explorer cannot load this page.

 

Yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about. With Firefox, however, it says something about trying to complete a loop that can't be completed. I'm going to try the log out then log back in option and see how that works.

I couldn't even log in Mustang with Google Chrome...though that was a few months ago.

Personally I've never had a problem with Blackboard, I think it may be more deployment than the software. That being said I think they might have been using WebCT when I had all my problems and they were many...

Either way I think each school should decide what's best for them, sad that Blackboard was crammed down their throats.

 

I came back from vacation today and WNMU refuses to recognize my login for my class. It accepts my login on one part of the site but not for my classes. They are supposed to use the same login info. I guess I'll be calling them tomorrow. They having some big issues with their forced software migration.

 

You're not the only one. Several people in our class our having the same issue, so I'm sure it could be everyone. With the school closed for the holiday weekend, I'm sure they'll be getting quite a few calls tomorrow.

Well, I used to be able to get into the classroom area (at least to the point where it showed the names of the classes) but when I clicked on a class it would give me some idiotic message about Internet Explorer cannot display this page. I think it's working again

I was just about to call WNMU now that it's 9AM their time, but I figured I'd try to log on to blackboard. I was able to get in, so if you've been having problems, give it a try. It might work for you now.

Yes, it worked fine for me this morning as well. I checked before I was going to call. I guess little gnomes must have fixed it last night. Any idea why WNMU was forced by the state to use this software and not what they already had figured out? Did the state sign a state-wide contract because of a brother-in-law etc. works for blackboard?

 

it can be a combination of your browser settings as well as the fact that the server is overloaded at peak times. Over the weekend the BB server was updated and was not using the login info of the LDAP database - locking all the students out this morning for a few hours.

Bear in mind the WNMU is not a "tech" school and the administrators are a bit in over their heads.

 

The BB server has issues - it can't handle the load beyond a certain number of connections.
