Has anyone had any experience with UVA's distance learning? I'm considering the certificate in e-marketing.

Ok, since I have gotten no replies let me re-frame my question. I am considering doing the e-Marketing certificate at UVA. The requirement is five courses and out of state tuition is $1,018/class for a grand total of $5,090. Is anyone on the board aware of/familiar with certificates in this area of study from other institutions? If so, what is the cost at those programs?
This will be my first foray into DL and I would feel more comfortable earning the credential via a well established, B&M school. This isn't meant as a slight on predominately/exclusively DL institutions, just a matter of personal preference/bias.

The University of Virginia (UVA) isn't well known for DL.

I'm quite aware that it is not their core competency, but they are one of the most revered universities in the country. Beyond that, I haven't found another institution that offers an e-marketing certificate via distance learning. I am beginning the ALM program at Harvard this fall in residence, but I feel like I can handle taking one course via DL in the certificate program this Fall in addition to my course load at HES.

I can't comment on any of these (including UVA) because I haven't taken any of them, but I was researching for a friend recently and found these two in addition to UVA, gives you some options to consider:

    University of San Francisco
    Master Certificate in Internet Marketing
    http://www.usanfranonline.com/certificate-programs/internet-marketing-training.aspx
    $5,995 (3 course package)

    DePaul University
Online Practical Internet Marketing Certificate Program

    $1,295 (1 course, 1 month & 1 week long)

Thanks for the info. It seems to me the UVA certificate would be a better deal than the USF program from both a price and reputation standpoint, as well as the comprehensiveness of the program.

The DePaul program is substantially less expensive even though it isn't as comprehensive so that may be an option. I have experience in utilizing social media for marketing purposes, but would like to study some other areas and have a certification to demonstrate my proficiency.

I have looked into the UVA DL marketing program as well. In addition, I reviewed the USF and DePaul offerings. If I can get my employer to sign off on it (pay for it) I'm going to start the UVA program this fall. It isn't cheap but the courses are exactly what I'm looking for. -Kevin
