    Hi!

I have a BA in Communications and I just earned a MS in Human Services. Upon finishing my M.S., I realized that I have always excelled at writing papers and I would rather write about social issues instead of counsel them. So I looked in teaching some online composition/college writing courses, however, every university is asking for instructors to hold a Masters in English with 18 hours in composition/writing.

Since there are absolutely no graduate programs in English in my area, I began googling and came across this site with a list of online Masters in English (BTW- Thank you!!) Anyway, most of the online programs I found are either heavy in literature or geared toward secondary English teachers. So now I am in a quandary.

I keep finding online masters in Comm, or online masters in English with an emphasis in Technical Comm, but none are specifically tailored for rhetoric/composition. I know Texas Tech has a Phd that maybe a fit, but they require a 2 year period between receiving a masters and starting a doctorate.

Does anyone know of any online programs or anyway to satisfy the requirements so that I can teach freshman composition at the college level? I have been researching this issue for months now and I am so lost!

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the info!

BGSU sent me stuff today and their degree is geared toward middle/high school teachers.

Have you heard any feedback about Northern Arizona Universities degrees?

I read that their program was disorganized and the classes were a joke.

    Thanks for the response!

BGSU sent me info yesterday and their program is tailored for middle school/high school teachers. Have you heard anything positive or negative about Northern Arizona Universities online programs?

Also, when you need 18 hours to teach a subject, does it matter if they are quarter or semester hours?
