Does anyone have any feedback on National University? They have a MA in Strategic Communication that has caught my eye. At $17,388, the tuition is lower than comparable Public Relations programs I have found online. http://www.nu.edu/OurPrograms/SchoolOfMediaAndCommunication/Communication/Programs/710-507.html
I have never taken a class from them, but they sometimes drop off info materials at the language school I work at. From what I have heard about them, they deliver good and solid education and care about their students. One of their niches is providing affordable education for international students.
I believe that they offer the only 100% distance learning MFA in Creative Writing in the USA. I've only heard good things about them.
Hi, I completed my M.S. in Information Systems at National University online. I finished in 2007. Although I can't speak about the program you are interested in, I was very happy with my experience and would recommend them. I found their curriculum to be applicable and I found the staff and faculty very helpful. Regards,
Thanks for the feedback. How is National University regarded in the workplace or by employers? Although the name of the school is a bit odd, they have a great assortment of programs, and the fact they are RA is nice, too.
I earned one of my teaching credentials through National University. While it was not online at that time, it was nontraditional (as in one course a month; two nights a week; nontraditional then). I was quite pleased with the courses and the commitment to quality. Tom Nixon
I've applied and been accepted to National University. I just can't get over the one course a month thing! National . .where have you been all of my life? I'm going to start my MFA in Creative Writing in October! Let's see how it goes.
In Southern California National university is well known and I never heard anyone think the school name is odd - one point in its favor is that is is basically a B&M school that also offers DL. Their main campus is in San Diego and they have 20+ satellite campuses.
Depends on how old you are. National was established in the early 1970's, employing its course-a-month format which leveraged all the computing power they could summon back in those days to support it.
I received my B.S from them and subsequently joined the military. As a veteran, I received great support from them and the availability of various satellites allowed me the opportunity to finish my degree in a timely manner (albeit more expensively than other local universities). One thing to consider: as a veteran or active duty, you are allowed to take classes on the local military base satellites (like MCRD in San Diego) at basically 50% discount on the tuition. Anyway, the quality of instruction depends mainly on the caliber of the professor but most of them are professionals in the field and rather accessible as such.
Current National University students Is there anyone currently enrolled at National University? If so, I'd like to know about your experience there.
I did my teaching license through NU's campus in Los Angeles. I really did appreciate their faculty. Every professor I had was a teacher or principal by day and NU professor by night.
50's DINER Yep, it's a flash back in time, everything is done the old fashion way. Guess that is why they don't do much of anyting well... Still not a bad school, just a rip on the administration at National!
