I have a hard time believing Online Degree; however, I do not have the time, or the money, to go to a university or anything along the lines of that. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with Online Degree. Are they worth it? How do the studies work? Are their any online colleges that offer Creative Writing or Art courses?
Yes they are worth it. What do you mean by, "I have a hard time believing Online Degree"? Has Online Degree lied to you? Online degrees are not ones found on matchbook covers. They are offered by almost every school including Harvard. I think schools are realizing they need to offer this option to stay competitive. Just like there are many good schools, there are many scams. Do your homework and be careful on your selection. Not to be synical, but you did come to a distance learning forum and still question the validity of such degrees? Also, a lot of your questions can be answered by using the search feature and simply by browsing through the various topics on this site.
HwyRogue, I have a question to ask you. Since you are in Canada and a FHSU student, do you file for tuition and books credit on your tax return here in Canada?
Indeed - I brought the tax form ( TL11A ) to my accountant and they took care of the rest (have done this since starting at FHSU in 2005)

Factors to take into consideration include: - school accreditation (preferably regional accreditation) - don't take this step lightly as it may cost you thousands of dollars and your precious time. - school respectability (if you got an online degree from Harvard University would you be happy? As far as the study is concerned, how about the faculty involved in such online degree programs? Are they experienced ones who guide you through and even available in odd times?
For FHSU, the faculty is available during regular business hours, and the people that taught my classes work for FHSU. Any questions I had were generally answered within 24 hours, or pretty much immediately if I called and they were not in a class.
It all depends on the school, however majority of regionally accredited institutions seem to have experienced professors running the program (IMO). Adjunct faculty, consisting of Master level grads and PhD holders, are often you main lifeline. This teaching personnel usually takes on a manageable number of students and are able to concentrate on helping you in an event you are stumped. Nearly all schools would like for you to use email as your first mode of communication, then call your facilitator / instructor / professor (usually in that order) if you have an emergency that will hinder your ability to turn in the assignment on time. Online learning can be very fun, time saving, and rewarding. However, this is contingent on the school you go to, your ability to successfully take online courses, and degree type you will ultimately select.

Faculty is available round the clock. They are always ready to help you. There is an option of chat rooms where you can have instant chats with them. But in that case you need to schedule timings with them.
In my experience, I would say no. This is just my understanding but I'm under the impression that you are doing things for yourself, mostly by yourself. It's not that there is a rule about it, but everything I need is in the book and extra information provided in the course. Assignments are all clearly laid out. Although I can ask an instructor a question, the general impression is you are a self-learner. And by the way, I don't know what you mean by "available at odd times." If I have a question I can send an email, but I don't know when they will reply. Although I've found school admin to be very fast, I don't place the same expectation on the teachers.
