I think unless Lansbridge is recognized by Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) and Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT), otherwise, it will look like the Greenwich situation in Australia. Only a provincial accreditation is not enough. When Tech BC was found, CAUT imposed a boycott. However, CAUT lifted it half year later.

    These are my two cents.

Interesting Jonathan. Greenwich is not permitted to confer Australian qualifications recognised under the AQF - are you suggesting that Lansbridge is not permitted to confer Canadian degrees?

I see that Lansbridge confers degrees in conjunction with the Arthur D Little School of Management. Is this where it obtains its degree granting authority?

    Cheers

What I meant is that from your post and LU's website, it seems that LU is accredited by the province. But we don't know whether other Canadian universities recognize LU or not. Maybe the Canadian system is different from Australian system. When Greenwich was founded, it was also approved (or accredited) by the Norfolk Island, which is like a province of Australia. But AQF doesn't recognize Greenwich. In Canada, there is also some kind of national organization which oversees those universities. LU needs to be recognized by some national authority also. Just my thought.

    A very degree-mill like article.

First, it is rather disingenuous to say it is Canada's first "e-university" with Athabasca around... a play on symantics perhaps. Second, Canadian governments do not accredit... to my knowledge (they give schools authority to grant certain degrees but this is not accreditation in any commonly understood sense of the word).
