I'm looking for a list of schools that offer FULLY online 2-year degrees in either business categories (accounting, finance) or IT (computer technology related). There are tons of community, junior, and technical schools out there, but many of them in my state (SC) only offer partial online programs. Google searches tend to only pick up a small number of schools, so if anyone has experience or has recommendations, let me know.

There are too many schools (colleges and universities) offering AA, AS, AAS degrees in information technology related specialties as well as in business related specialties to list them all here. I recommend you browse the various threads and gather a list of schools to investigate. Before beginning, however, you need to decide whether a nationally accredited or regionally accredited school will meet your needs. Also, in the business arena there are business-specific accreditations that might or might not be important in your particular situation.

After you have narrowed down the list of potentially suitable degrees and the schools where they are offered via online delivery mode we will be able to provide further information to help you choose the right school for your educational goals.

I'm not sure about SC, but in NC the community colleges only have a 15-hour residency requirement. If you can use CLEP/DSST and online courses from other schools to fill in the gaps, you really need only one semester's worth of courses from an SC school to graduate. Good luck!

Well, to start with, I can narrow it down to AS or AAS, not really interested in AA. Accredited programs would be preferred. Also, I think the main reason is to look at a cost comparison. For example, Rasmussen offers fully online 2-year programs in several fields, but you're looking at $350 per credit hour. That's a steep overall price even if you transfer in half of your credits from a previous degree. Some schools, like IWUOnline for example, will not let you transfer any credits into the associate's programs - you have to take all 60 credit hours no matter your background. Others will let you transfer up to half.

CCs are usually pretty inexpensive, and they are regionally accredited which would make transfer into a bachelor program very smooth. If I could make a suggestion- look for a program offering an AA or AS in your subject rather than an AAS or AOS. AAS and AOS degrees are primarily subject/department specific courses rather than general education courses. In other words, you'll be holding (and paying for) 40-50 credits out of the entire 60-63 that won't apply to a bachelor's degree down the road.

And, I second the suggestion to use CLEP exams. Check your CCs policy and max out.

Fort Hays State University and Hampton University are two that I can think of off top.

AMU/APU and the big three (Excelsior, TESC, and COSC) all offer asociates degrees. The big three allow courses to be transferred in plus give credit for other exams such as CLEP and DANTES/DSST.

thanks for all of the info.

I'm also looking for fully online, post-bacc certificate programs, specifically in Accounting. These seem to be few and far between, I can't find hardly any that are online.

Community Colleges you might want to look at:

    Hi

I've heard nothing but good reports of distance offerings from these 3 Community College sources:

    www.maricopa.edu
    www.riosalado.edu
    www.clovis.edu

Have a look. What could it hurt?

    Cheers!
